wagamama’s summer menu has arrived with a whole new range of nourishing dishes. This summer, wagamama introduces their kokoro bowls; light, fulfilling and fresh.

‘Kokoro’ is a Japanese word, which has no direct translation, but means “spirit, heart + mind”, so is a good term to use when talking about someone’s soul i.e. “he has a good kokoro”. These bowls have been created to feed your soul this summer and are all under 650 calories. Why not go for the cod mokutan soba, these charcoal noodles form a bold bed for two fillets of tender miso cod, bok choi +  fresh veg. Bold in appearance. Bright in flavour. Or maybe the naked katsu takes your fancy; a twist on a classic. Curried chicken on rice topped with fresh edamame beans and a side of katsu curry sauce. The katsu you love, but lighter.

This summer wagamama Newport are also welcoming the arrival of the world’s first vegan egg. In collaboration with gaz oakley aka avant garde vegan, a Cardiff native + trailblazing vegan chef, wagamama bring you the avant gard’n. The hero of this dish is a coconut + sriracha vegan ‘egg’. Its richness + spice complements barbecue glazed seitan, grilled asparagus + king oyster mushrooms. Served on sticky white rice, it’s topped with fresh edamame, carrot + spring onion. We think it’s a winner for vegans + non-vegans alike.
