KFC TO CELEBRATE OPENING WITH NEWPORT INSPIRED STREET ART AND GIVEAWAYS

Date: 12/12/2017

Street artist Prime Mural Arts is teaming up with KFC to celebrate the opening of the Friars Walk restaurant by creating bespoke artwork inspired by Newport….and they’re throwing in some free chicken!

To celebrate Newport’s rich music and art heritage, KFC has teamed up with local street artist to celebrate the opening of the Friars Walk restaurant. On Wednesday 13th December, customers will get to see Prime Mural Arts create a bespoke piece of work and provide art master classes for anyone feeling inspired to have a go themselves.

In addition, the first 100 fans at KFC Friars Walk on Wednesday 13th December between 10:00am and 11:30am will be able to nab a limited-edition KFC t-shirt and a free meal*.

Clare Morris, KFC Restaurant General Manager for Newport, said: “We have a great art scene here in Newport so we’re very excited that KFC will be celebrating the opening with a local graffiti artist. To top it off we’re giving away free chicken to the first 100 customers. We can’t wait to meet all the Newport KFC fans that come down!”

Prime Mural Arts Collective, local street artists, said: “Newport has always been a creative place but its art scene doesn’t get enough attention. KFC asking me to create a piece of artwork is the perfect way to recognise just how much we’ve got going on down here – I can’t wait to get started and get everyone involved.”

Simon Pullen, Friars Walk Centre Director, said: “We’re delighted that KFC is now open at the centre. There’s already been so much excitement so I’m sure that the new restaurant, and the launch, are going to prove a real hit. We can’t wait to get involved in the street art masterclass and celebrate Newport.”

The new restaurant has created 60 jobs in Newport and features KFC’s latest restaurant design which includes state of the art digital menu boards and hanging light fixtures. In the coming weeks, the restaurant will also be involved in KFC’s charity initiatives including the Food Donation Scheme, which sees unsold chicken frozen and donated to a local charity partner and the Add Hope Foundation, which enables each KFC restaurant to support a local children’s charity.

Along with KFC’s Original Recipe chicken, customers can also try some of the latest additions to KFC’s menu, including Festive Fries, Celebrations Krushems and lighter options like Riceboxes.

Opening hours for the restaurant, located in Friars Walk Shopping Centre, are 10:00am-11pm Monday to Sunday.
